I want to transfer my LGPS benefits to another scheme

If you are joining another pension arrangement, you may wish to consider transferring your Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) benefits to it. This may even be to an overseas pension scheme or arrangement that meets HM Revenue and Customs conditions.

You cannot transfer your benefits - other than Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) if you leave less than one year before your Normal Pension Age.

If you choose to transfer out your pension benefits (other than in respect of AVC’s) this must be completed and finalised at least 12 months before your Normal Pension Age.

Your new pension provider will require a Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) quotation from Merseyside Pension Fund, which under the provisions introduced by the Pensions Act 1995, the Fund will guarantee for a period of three months from the date of calculation (known as the ‘Guarantee Date’).
