The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has written to advise that The Local Government Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2009, which introduce the statutory requirement necessary for the next stages of cost sharing arrangements, were laid before Parliament on 23 April 2009 with an effective date of 1 April 2009.
The Regulations require the Fund to provide information to the Government Actuary in connection with the introduction of Cost Sharing Arrangements by 30 June 2009 and annually thereafter. To enable the Fund to comply with this requirement it is essential that all fund employers submit their 31 March 2009 Annual Return of contributions and pensionable pay as soon as possible and preferably no later than 20 May 2009.
Work has also commenced on the production of Annual Benefit Statements for members as at 31 March 2009 and the annual employer contribution returns are also essential to complete this task.
