NO CHANGE IN CONTRIBUTION BANDS FROM APRIL 2010

As a result of the negative (RPI) inflation (-1.4%) suffered by the economy in the 12 months up to and including September 2009, the earnings bands, from 1 April 2010 are expected to remain unchanged from those used during 2009/10.
Please remember, if you work part-time, that the rate is determined based on what you would earn if you worked whole-time, although the amount you pay is based on your actual earnings.
The Government consulted on possible changes to the contribution rates for those members earning over £75,000 p.a. however no formal decisions have yet been announced on this matter.
If you are a former manual worker paying the protected 5% rate as at 31 March 2008, your rate for 2010/11 will be 6.50% (or, where lower, the amount corresponding to the earnings band, shown in the table below):
